In accordance with the Club SPR there is a maximum of twelve (12) elected committee members allowed however the Committee may engage non-Committee members on an ad hoc basis to assist it in the management of the Club.
Our volunteer Club Officials consist of:
Committee
- The Governance Committee of five (5) Office Bearers and three (3) Ordinary Committee members
- Ordinary Committee members of four (4), or more provided that the maximum number of all Committee members is twelve (12)
Administrators
- These members hold positions such as Membership, Merchandise, Website, Communications, Social Media, etc.
Generally filled by Ordinary Committee members but can also be held by ad hoc members appointed by the Committee
Chapter Captains
- Seven (7) Chapter Captains lead each of our Regional and Motorsport activities
Ordinary Committee
Consists of a number of elected or committee appointed ordinary members such that the total number of Governance & Ordinary Committee members does not exceed twelve (12) in total.

For my 40th birthday my parents graciously gave me $5k to buy whatever my heart desired.
A watch? Nah …A Playstation? Absolutely not …What about a car that had graced my wall as a “Wheels” centre fold when I was a kid? YES ! An NA6 MX-5 it was.
Seven years in the Club, two MX-5s deep and an avid motorsport participant with Khanacross and Sprints
filling the calendar.
A wife, two daughters, a dog, basketball coaching,
footy (Go Dees!), work and life in general means a very full schedule.
Despite all this, the MX-5 Committee called.
Hoping to give back to the Club which has given me so much in just seven years … !

Although I’ve been a ‘car nut’ since the day I was born I’m relatively new to MX-5s.
Through mutual friends I met our Southern
Tasmania Chapter Captain, John Waldock, who graciously lent me his ND RF to go on a Chapter run in November 2020.
Of course, I instantly fell in love with the car and had to have one!
Fortunately for me there was a low-mileage Jet Black 2019 ND RF available in a local dealership. That suited me down to the ground so it was instantly
purchased and I joined the Club shortly thereafter.
I’ve recently started a sub-group here in Tasmania to do some track days.
My aim is to build on that foundation to have more members participate in track days throughout the year.
Ultimately I’d like to see a contingent of Tasmanian MX-5 owners venture to Victoria and beyond and join in other Chapters’ track days.

When I retired a couple of years ago I had little clear direction as to what to do next.
My life could simply centre around bike riding and grandchildren (hence the photo).
I was also drawn to the drives organised by the
MX-5 Club – the social runs have led to some great times, an improvement in my driving and getting
to understand the MX-5 better.
In my much younger days of mucking about in and around cars I was a
member of the Peugeot car club in the ’80s and ’90s.
The sale of my last Peugeot, an amazing 206 GTI 180, resulted in the purchase of my one and only MX-5 in 2006.
Over the last 90K the car has been a daily drive, an opportunity to tinker and modify, and to have a blast on squiggly roads first in north-west
Tasmania and now north-eastern Victoria.
With most clubs I feel that if you want the club
you enjoy to thrive you have to be willing to put in.
Having held back from joining any boards in early retirement I thought it was time I put my hand up for the MX-5 Club Committee.
Let’s see if I can be of use!

Upon purchasing my first MX-5 and joining
the Club back in January 2019, I have enjoyed
participating in many Club runs and social
events.
After crossing the stretch of water to attend the
Three Peaks Run last year, the idea was formed to organise a Tassy Tour for later this year – and, with the involvement and assistance from Committee members in organising this, it is a natural progression to become a Committee member.
I’m looking forward to further involvement in the Club and to our trip to Toowoomba next April.
