About the Club

The Mazda MX-5 Club of Victoria & Tasmania was formed in August 1990, boasting the largest inaugural membership of any CAMS-affiliated Club.

We have around 700 members, male and female, of all backgrounds, interests, ages and levels of enthusiasm. Unlike a lot of car clubs, we don’t have regular member meetings … we prefer to actually get out on the road or on the track and drive the cars, rather than sit and talk about them.

The Club is a one-marque club catering only for Mazda MX-5s (and MX-5 variants including Mazda Miatas, Eunos Roadsters and Mazda Roadsters). Despite its origins, the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider is not considered to be an MX-5 variant.

On the social side, we have several events each month, variously organised by our different Chapters. A quick look at our calendar will give you an idea of what’s on offer there. Typically our events are on Sundays, with some on Saturdays and some mid-week, finding the best MX-5 roads and ending up somewhere for a picnic or lunch at a restaurant; it’s here where we chat and compare notes about the cars (mostly just chat!).

On the motor sport side, we have an annual championship (usually 8 to 10 rounds) of sprint events (cars against the clock rather than door handle to door handle racing), held at the major motor sport tracks around Victoria (Winton, Phillip Island, Sandown) as well as Wakefield Park in NSW and occasionally Mallala in SA.

Some of our members also try their hand at motorkhana, taking part in the Victorian Motorkhana Championship.

Whichever is your passion, you’ll find a welcoming bunch of people who all share your passion for the MX-5 and the joy it brings.

Club Objectives:

  • to encourage the coming together of owners and drivers (and their respective families and friends) of Mazda MX-5 automobiles by actively promoting membership of the club to all who own and/or drive the car;
  • to promote and further the practical, sporting and social aspects of motoring within the membership of the club and, where necessary or desirable, to join with other persons, clubs or associations in Australia and overseas for those purposes;
  • to encourage participation by and social interaction between members, and generally to afford to them all the usual privileges and advantages of membership of the club; and
  • to encourage courtesy, good driving and safety on the roads of Australia.

About the Club

If you're looking for people who share your passion and enthusiasm for the sensational Mazda MX-5, you've come to the right place!

Our Club started with the southern hemisphere's first mass gathering of MX-5 owners - 130 from all corners of Victoria - on 6 May, 1990 and was launched formally with 167 Foundation Members on 10 August, 1990.

Today, more than 1000 members in Victoria and Tasmania enjoy a vast range of social and motor sport activities that help get the best out of these sensational cars.
